Since writing these instructions in 2006, in 2015 I obtained a copy of the original instruction manual for a Simpson 2001 oven. It turns out that the instrutions I wrote are basically correct, so I will leave them here, in case they add anything to the original manual.
Oven model Number: 68-6-2-400
The timer counts down a number of minutes, then sounds a beeper for one minute.
To set the timer, or change a running timer, press and hold the timer button. While holding the button, twist the time set knob to increase or decrease the duration. Release the timer button and the timer will start counting down.
To observe the time remaining press the timer button only.
Note. If the timer is running then readjusted the seconds count will be reset to zero.
Cooking time allows the oven to cook for a predetermined time. Stop time allows the oven to turn off at a particular time of day. They may be set independently so the combination of the two allows the oven to start and stop at some time in the future.
The AUTO indicator will turn on when the cooking time or stop time have been set. The oven active inicator will come on when the oven is cooking under automatic control. Once the oven has stopped cooking the AUTO inicator will flash.
Set the oven up using the oven temperature knob and top element switch. Press and hold the cooking time button. While holding the button, twist the time set knob to increase or decrease the duration of the cooking time. Release the button. Cooking time is now set.
To observe the stop time press the cooking time button only.
Note that if necessary the stop time will automatically increased so the oven has enough time cook for the requested duration. In this case the oven will start immediately and turn off after the requested duration.
It doesn't matter whether the oven temperature is set before or after the cooking time is set, as long as you don't mind losing a small amount of cooking time.
Set the oven up using the oven temperature knob and top element switch. Press and hold the stop time button. While holding the button, twist the time set knob to move the stop time further into the future or closer to the current time. Release the button. Cooking stop time is now set.
To observe the stop time press the stop time button only.
Note that if the stop time is set without setting the cooking time the cooking time will automatically be set to the oven starts immediately and stops at the requested time. If the stop time is decreased, the cooking time will be automatically reduced if necessary to meet the requested stop time.
It doesn't matter whether the oven temperature is set before or after the stop time is set, just that the oven might turn on briefly before the cooking time is set.
Once the oven has finished it the beeper will sound. To stop the beeper push any one of the timer, cook time, stop time or manual buttons.
At the end of the cooking program the AUTO indicator will flash. To return the oven to manual control push the manual control button.
When the oven reverts to manual control it will do whatever the oven control knob and top element switches are set to.
If you with to terminate a running cooking program, you must first set the cooking time to zero or the stop time to the current time. Next push the manual control button.
Press and hold any two of the timer, cooking time or stop time buttons. Use the time set knob to set the time. Release the two buttons. The clock will start running (with a zero second count) from the time you release the buttons.
